Intervening vs. Interfering
Intervening is when someone asks for help. It is positive. It is supportive. It offers ideas. It is patient and never pushy. It allows the other person to make their own decision. It empowers the other person. Interfering is inviting yourself into the problem. It is harmful. It tells the other person what to do. It assumes you know what is best for the other person. It pressures the other person to do what you want. It leaves the other person with two problems- the original problem and you. |
