Do you wish people would be more kind? Do you think about what you say to others because you know it is important to be careful with your words? Do you feel bad when someone is laughed at or talked about? Do you want to help them? Do you enjoy listening to others? Are you good at solving problems? When you are told something in confidence are you able to keep it to yourself? If you answered yes to all of these questions you may want to find out more about the Take a Stand Club. Here's how you get started:
#1 Come to some of our after school club meetings. Get to know our club members and join in the discussions.
#2 If you really enjoy the club meetings and you would like to be a part of the kids that are running it, fill out the club application and return it to Ms. Keith or Ms. Elliott.

#3 Club Sponsors will review your application.
#4 Club Sponsors will check your attendance records. Attendance shows us that you are responsible and respectful of the school rules. As a member of this group people will be looking for you if they have a problem or need help and you have to be there and be ready to help them.
#5 Club Sponsors will check your grades. Grades show us that you are responsible in the classroom and are willing to do what you need to do to be successful. As a member of this group other students will be looking at you to be a leader in the classroom.
#6 Club Sponsors will be checking your discipline record. As a member of this group we are expecting you to model the school wide expectations.
#7 Teacher Feedback- Teachers on your team will be notified that you have filled out an application for the Take a Stand Club and will be asked about your interactions with peers and staff in the classroom as well as the hallways.
#8 Student Feedback- Club Sponsors will ask peers about those times when an adult is not around. Are you doing the right thing in the cafeteria, the locker room, after school, on social media?
#9 Club Interview- You will be asked to come to an interview by the Take a Stand Club members. After your interview they will discuss whether they think you would or would not be a good fit for this club.
#10 Vote- Final approval is made by getting a unanimous vote by all of the club sponsors and the club President.
What if you don't get approved?
This application process was designed to be challenging. It was modeled from the way adults get jobs and from some of the standard parts of the Eagle Scout Application. If you don't get approved the first time around, don't sweat it. You're not always ready the first time you try for something, but we are going to tell you exactly what we want you to work on so that you can be ready when you reapply. Adults rarely get the job they want on their first try and Eagle Scouts have to go through several steps and a unanimous Eagle Board vote to be approved. There is great honor in trying again.
